moic14 I am a 45 years old born in France, and I have been practicing Astronomy for abourt 35 years. It all started as a young boy looking up at the night sky and being awed. I then got my first 50 mm hand held telescope. Followed a classic 60 mm refractor on an alt-azimuth mount, then a 115mm F/D 8 on an equatorial mount. I remember one night, looking at that very bright star rising over the mountain to the East with the 60 mm scope, as it did not feature on my cardboard sky map.  As I was focusing the image, I saw the star becoming oval in shape and then turning into a tiny saturn. This moment has never left me. At 18 I  built my own 260 mm Newtonian telescope (it took me over a year to grind and polish the primary mirror to Lambda/25). This scope, on a wooden mount, had the best optics I have ever experienced, and  was stationned at a chalet in Les Carroz d’arraches my parents owned. Then some bright council spark (should I say plug?) decided the village needed street lights to enter the 21th century so that was that ruined and I bought a CG11 I could move about with my first salaries. I have always been disappointed by this telescope as the optics were dreadful. I guess I picked up the wrong one. Then life and work took me to the UK (East coast of Scotland) where I lived for over 10 years and where there is no point owning a telescope as blue sky does not exist there.Upon coming back to France 8 years ago, being fed up with beer and fish and chips, I got the old C11 out and started again observing and photographing the night sky with a digital camera. When I got my new house in the countryside, I decided to built an observatory and swapped the C11 for a selected brand new C14 EdgeHD SCT on a Losmandy Titan Mount from “Optique et Vision” in Juan les Pins. Part of the budget was also used to acquire an Atik-11000CM color CCD camera for astrophotography and an Atik-16IC for guiding. I now work as a project manager,  for MDP Electronics Company.
